Hamsters
Like you, I am a big hamster lover! :) I've been raising hammies since I was about six years old and I've cherished every moment! I've owned almost every kind of hamster there is, teddy bear, short hair, dwarf, every shape, size, color, temperament, they've all been in my home! I've also adopted hamsters that had an owner who couldn't take care of the hammy anymore, who didn't have the patience to let their pet get used to them because it didn't seem "friendly" right away, or from people who knew that their precious babies would have a loving home with me.
Hamsters are widely believed to be a good "first" pet for a child. I don't disagree, but a hamster can bite when he doesn't know you or feels threatened in some way. The bite hurts too, so be careful! Never "grab" at your hammy, approach him carefully and lift and hold him gently. Let him get to know you and get used to you, and the two of you should have a very rewarding relationship!
